In February 1965, 199.052 acres of land, which featured an abandoned quarry and large acreage of forest, was sold to The City of Kenton for a fee of $1 by The France Company. The City decided to name this area, Saulisberry Campground and France Lake after the Kenton Mayor, Helen Saulisberry, and The France Lake company. This area was designated as a "recreational area" to be managed and supervised by the recreational board. Kenton utilizes this land, referred to as the "quarry", as a large fishing lake and small campground. However, swimming is strictly prohibited!
All individuals 17 years old and up need a permit.
